About 4km easternly of Sitia. A small coastal settlement with a clean beach and crystal waters, in the coastal street from Sitia to Vai. Here you will find simple hotels, certain umbrellas and deck chairs and a couple of good taverns, for a quiet and pleasant stay.
About 11 km north of Agios Nikolaos. The former fishing village of Elounda, that gave its name in the seasonal, cosmopolitan region with the luxurious hotels, is today a small tourist destination, with simple hotels, restaurants, coffee and a lot of other services. The sandy beach, next to the little harbour, is small and pleasant. Small boats depart from here to the islet of Spinalonga, in the middle of the gulf.
12 km southly-eastern of Agios Nikolaos. In the coastal street southernly of Agios Nikolaos there are 5-6 splendid sandy beaches with clean, crystal waters, from Agios Nikolaos to Mohlos. Istros is first from these beaches, in a small settlement, with rented rooms and good taverns where you can taste Cretan dishes and fresh fish.
About 15 km eastern of Ierapetra. Perhaps the best beach westwards Ierapetra, Myrtos is a resort suitable for families that attract mainly European tourists. The beaches are sandy and narrow and in all the region quietness prevails and it is organised.
98 km easternly of Agios Nikolaos. Perhaps the most famous beach of Crete, Vai is worldwide known because of its palm groove that surrounds it and which is the biggest in Europe!
About 3 km northern of Vai. One small and quiet creek, under the ruins of ancient castle that at the classic years constituted a naval base. The big and undeniable advantage of this beach is the quietness and not so much the quality of coast, that is very small, while the bottom is little abrupt.
About 38 km eastern of Ierapetra. An idyllic place, with clear crystal waters and relatively isolated, Kalo Nero is the last beach of eastern Ierapetra, before Goudouras. Services are not provided and facilities are absent but it is certainly worth the trouble visiting if you are exploring the southern beach of Lasithi.
23km southernly of Vai. You should definitely visit Zakros, this splendid village in the middle of the wild, eastern coast of Crete.
About 10 km southern of Vai. A very beautiful beach with sand and pebbles, in the archaeological space Petsofas, in the eastern coast of Crete. There is a tavern, but no other facility, however the calm that prevails contrary to the neighbouring Vai will compensate you for the lack of services.
About 38 km southernly of Agios Nikolaos. Ierapetra is the biggest town in the southern coast of Crete and the main commercial and rural centre of the region. Paradoxically its beach is a splendid, clean sandy beach that it is of equal beauty as the beaches of other resorts. The city is the perfect base in order to explore the extremely interesting southern coast of Lasithi, especially easternly the town you will find an entire line of coastal resorts and beautiful beaches.
About 9 km eastern of Ierapetra. Wide grey sandy beach that its extent is long, easternly Ierapetra that combines the beauty of all Eastern coasts of Crete. The composition of colours of - its deep blue sea, light blue sky and the grey sand - compose a dramatic setting. You will find certain facilities and services, but, mainly, calm and peacefulness. Here it is the ideal place to spend all the day sunbathing, laid down in the sand in order to escape from the intensities of daily life and the routine of the city.
25 km eastern of Ierapetra the name reveals everything: long seashore, with light blue waters, sandy extents and quietness. Beautiful coastal settlement with clean sandy beach, one of the longest on Crete. It allocates modern tourist facilities, a lot of taverns, restaurants, bars etc
About 42 km easternly of Agios Nikolaos. The last beach before Sitia, in the coastal street from Agios Nikolaos, Mohlos and the other beaches round the village are nothing but narrow bands of sand, but have enough personality. The region attracts couples of Northern-Europeans that appear to return each year here, giving the village an air of good neighborship and companionship. The coastal taverns are beautiful and well-looked-after, and the menus contain Cretan delicacies and fish. A classic Cretan fishing village.
In Sitia, 70 km easternly of Agios Nikolaos. Sitia is the last big town of eastern Crete. The region is beautiful, tactic and the point of union of Crete with the Dodecanese islands, since ferries depart from here to Karpathos and Rhodes. Here you will find certain appreciable small hotels and good taverns that offer very good food in low prices. The beach is splendid.
29 km easternly of Agios Nikolaos. The two most pleasant surprises of prefecture of Lasithi are the beach Tholos and Zakros. In the coastal street of Agios Nikolaos-Sitia you take a left turn in the plates as soon as you reach Kavousi. In the end of a winding way through olive grove this tropical beach is found. Tholos is the beach of Kavousi and is usually quiet in the afternoon. The green waters and the olive grove that reaches up to the sand make this beach a destination for those who explore eastern Crete.
